The Reckoning Project pursues justice for people who have been harmed by law enforcement misconduct. By promoting accountability and transparency, the Reckoning Project aims to center our justice system on the human dignity of all participants and to prevent future misconduct.
Marc is the co-Principal Investigator, along with Christian Davenport, for the Reckoning Project, a new large-scale research database that aims to support victims of official misconduct. Indeed, much of the injustice involved in wrongful convictions can be traced back to a lack of accountability for powerful actors — whether police, prosecutors, judges, expert witnesses, or others — who committed misconduct within their official duties.
The Reckoning Project seeks to promote transparency and accountability, and thereby to achieve justice for people who have been harmed by official misconduct within the criminal legal system.
The Reckoning Project’s goals are to save innocent lives, reduce the harm caused to people who have been excessively and unjustly punished, and help to change a corrupt and immoral system that protects state actors who have abused their tremendous power.
